Clean Bandit Suffer £35,000 Equipment Heist in Ibiza

British electronic music trio Clean Bandit were victims of a burglary in Ibiza last weekend, losing an estimated £35,000 worth of equipment and cash. The band were on the island to film a music video for their latest single, "Cry Baby," alongside fellow artists David Guetta and Anne-Marie.

The incident occurred after the band had completed a recording session with Guetta and stayed at a friend's property. Clean Bandit vocalist Grace Chatto, speaking to The Sun, explained that band members Jack and Luke had returned to London to edit the video footage, which thankfully remained safe.

"But I was supposed to bring back the lenses," she explained, adding that after a dinner outing, the band returned to find that someone had "crowbarred the window and taken the lenses, laptops, and cash." Chatto expressed concern for their safety, admitting that they felt "quite scared sleeping there that night."

While acknowledging the significant financial loss, Chatto was relieved that the valuable video footage was secure, stating it would have been "irreplaceable."

The music video for "Cry Baby" was entirely directed, produced, and edited by Clean Bandit themselves and features both Guetta and Anne-Marie. The band hopes to recover some of their losses through insurance.

This incident comes after a similar robbery in June, where Yorkshire DJ Franky Wah reported the theft of his entire music collection, including unfinished tracks, laptop, and other essential equipment, while dining at a restaurant in Ibiza. Wah offered a reward for the return of his belongings, which had been stolen from his car.

The recent spate of robberies targeting music professionals in Ibiza raises concerns about the safety of equipment and belongings on the island, a popular destination for musicians and producers. Authorities are likely to investigate these incidents and consider increased security measures to protect artists and their valuable assets.
