Celine Dion Condemns Trump's Unauthorized Use of "Titanic" Song

Celine Dion has publicly condemned the use of her iconic song "My Heart Will Go On" at a recent Donald Trump campaign rally, stating that the use was unauthorized and not endorsed by her.

The incident occurred during a rally held on Friday in Bozeman, Montana, where Trump's campaign playlist featured the dramatic ballad. The choice of music was met with amusement on social media, with many users drawing parallels between the song's theme of loss and the sinking fortunes of Trump's presidential campaign.

"Perfect - because when your campaign’s headed for an iceberg, you might as well set it to music," quipped Marc Broklawski on the social media platform X, referencing the "Titanic" film's infamous shipwreck.

The Kamala Harris campaign, which has seen Trump's lead in the polls shrink in recent weeks, was implied to be the "iceberg" in this scenario.

While "My Heart Will Go On" is best known as the love theme from the 1997 Oscar-winning film, it actually explores themes of resilience and coping with loss through its poignant lyrics: "Near, far, wherever you are/I believe that the heart does go on."

Dion's management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., issued a statement on her Instagram expressing their displeasure at the unauthorised use of the song.

"In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use…And really, THAT song?" the statement concluded, highlighting their surprise at the choice of music.

This incident marks a new low in the ongoing saga of Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, drawing attention to his unconventional methods and the ongoing scrutiny of his actions. The unauthorised use of "My Heart Will Go On" serves as a stark reminder of the tumultuous political landscape and the continued resonance of Celine Dion's enduring musical legacy.
