Celebrity Race Across The World: Where Will The Contestants Trek?

The second season of the popular BBC One series, *Celebrity Race Across The World*, kicks off tonight (14 August), and this time, the famous faces are venturing into the wilds of South America.

Four celebrity duos will embark on a thrilling journey across the Amazon and the Andes, navigating their way through the vast continent without the aid of transport, mobile phones, or bank cards.

Joining the challenge are TV personality Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy, actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary, former glamour model Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy, and Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband Sam.

This gruelling 12,500km race begins in Belem, a city in northern Brazil, before the contestants encounter five undisclosed checkpoints along their route through South America. The finish line awaits in the Andes, specifically in Frutillar, a picturesque town located in southern Chile.

Tim Harcourt, the chief creative officer of Studio Lambert, expressed his excitement about the new season: "After the phenomenal success of the first celebrity series and, more recently, the fourth series of the regular show, we're excited to take audiences on a journey across the immense South American continent. The breathtaking scenery and challenging race will push our celebrities and their loved ones to their absolute limits."

Starting Point: Belem, Northern Brazil

Known as "the gateway to the Amazon," Belem is a bustling riverfront city in northern Brazil. This historic city boasts a rich blend of colonial architecture, charming churches, and vibrant houses adorned with colourful azulejos (ceramic tiles). Belem serves as the starting point for exploring the vast Amazon rainforest, which stretches across much of northwestern Brazil and into several other South American countries.

The Finish Line: Frutillar, Southern Chile

Nestled on the shores of Llanquihue Lake in southern Chile's Lake District, Frutillar is known as a "city of music" and is recognised by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. The town offers stunning views of the towering Osorno volcano and a unique blend of Chilean and German cultural heritage, evident in attractions like The German Museum, the Teatro del Lago (an acoustic concert hall), and a lively yacht club.
