Celebrity MasterChef 2024: Emma Thynn Bids Farewell as Food Truck Dreams Go Up in Smoke

The latest episode of *Celebrity MasterChef

saw another star chef-in-the-making sent packing, as the competition heats up ahead of the quarter-finals.

The evening's challenge saw *Dancing on Ice

winner Jake Quickenden, *Game of Thrones* star Tamer Hassan, stand-up comedian Jamie MacDonald, and *Strictly Come Dancing* participant Emma Thynn put their communication skills to the test in the kitchen.

The three gruelling rounds commenced with the celebrities being divided into two teams. Tamer and Emma, and Jake and Jamie, were tasked with creating the same dish, but only one team member could consult the recipe while guiding their partner.

Jake, relying solely on his descriptive abilities, helped Jamie prepare a spiced quail with yassa sauce, cassava chips and rice, while Emma guided Tamer through the creation of grilled jerk chicken with rice and peas, mango coleslaw, and dumplings. Both teams' efforts were praised by judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace for their well-cooked ingredients and similar presentations.

Later, the celebrities found themselves in professional kitchens for a hectic lunch service. Jake and Jamie found themselves in the Italian fine-dining restaurant LAVO in Marylebone, where Jamie was tasked with making tagliatelle al limone to order, while Jake portioned a whole salmon served with a chickpea salad and oregano sauce.

Meanwhile, Emma and Tamer were at The Parakeet, a restaurant pub renowned for its cookery over fire. Tamer faced the challenge of juggling two small plates - a chargrilled leek dish and confit trout in a beurre blanc sauce. Emma, on the other hand, was responsible for butchering a whole duck for one of the restaurant's signature mains: honey-glazed crown of duck with charred cabbage and apple purée.

Following the demanding lunch service, the celebrities returned to the *MasterChef

kitchen to create a signature dish for their own food truck. Jake successfully pushed himself by individually deshelling and deveining prawns for his tempura taco dish, while Tamer, inspired by his Turkish Cypriot heritage, crafted a lamb kebab served with cacik and an onion salad.

Jamie's chicken burger with a pancetta salsa and crisps, which he presented blindfolded to the judges, impressed Greg, who felt it heightened his senses.

Emma's summer rolls, consisting of marinated chicken thighs and pickled vegetables wrapped in rice paper, unfortunately lacked the anticipated chilli, ultimately costing her a place in the quarter-finals.

"None of this has felt real at all. I can't believe I did it. I'm proud of myself for doing what I've done," Emma expressed after her exit. "I'm happy to go home to my kids and my husband and have a rest."
