Catfish Host Nev Schulman Breaks Neck in Bike Accident, Shares Graphic Images of Injuries

Nev Schulman, best known for his role as host of the MTV series "Catfish", has revealed that he recently suffered a serious bike accident, sustaining a broken neck. In a graphic Instagram post on Saturday, the 39-year-old detailed the incident and shared images of his injuries.

Schulman explained that on Monday, he was cycling to collect his son from school when he was involved in a collision with a lorry. "I was alone and unconscious. And then conscious," he wrote in the caption. "Maybe I was fine (I wasn’t). Maybe I can still do my long run on Thursday (I couldn’t)."

The impact of the collision resulted in a fractured C5 and C6 vertebrae in his neck, although thankfully, Schulman is not paralysed. He expressed gratitude for the "incredible" medical staff who assisted him after the accident, noting that he narrowly escaped with his life.

"I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery," he shared. "And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward."

The Instagram post, which included a trigger warning for viewers, featured images of Schulman's neck scans, surgery scar, and his damaged helmet. Further images documented his recovery journey, including a heartwarming video of Schulman reuniting with his three children - Cleo James (7), Beau Bobby Bruce (5), and Cy Monroe (2) - upon his release from hospital.

His wife, Laura Perlongo, also shared a series of images and videos on her social media, documenting Schulman's progress. In one video, the reality TV star, wearing a neck brace, joked about feeling "dressed up" in his recovery attire.

Schulman concluded his Instagram post with a poignant reflection on the importance of embracing life's moments. "We hadn’t planned on fishing last Sunday and my instinct was to say no to scramble-planning a day trip, but looking back a week later, I’m so glad I said yes ❤️," he wrote.

The accident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. Schulman's story has resonated with many, prompting an outpouring of support and well wishes from fans and fellow celebrities. He is expected to make a full recovery and will no doubt continue to share his journey with his followers.
