Cardona's Heart Lies in WWE: Chelsea Green Calls for Husband's Return

Chelsea Green, a prominent figure in the WWE, has expressed her desire for her husband, Matt Cardona, to rejoin the wrestling giant. Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, was released by the company in 2020 after a 15-year tenure, during which he held the Intercontinental Championship.

Following his departure, Cardona enjoyed a brief spell in AEW before carving a successful career for himself on the independent scene. He has been a prominent figure in both Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), earning the moniker of "Death Match King" and "King of the Indies."

Despite his recent success, Green, who returned to WWE last year, revealed that she misses working alongside her husband and hopes for a reunion within the company. In an interview with Gabby AF, Green spoke candidly about Cardona's aspirations.

"I mean, I definitely want him in WWE," she shared. "We've had the craziest two years. I've been on the road so much, so busy, and he's been the busiest he's ever been. We're not even seeing each other that much, which is also crazy. But, at the end of the day, I know where his heart lies and his heart lies in WWE."

Green highlighted that Cardona's ambition has always been to become a WWE Superstar. "He always wanted to be a WWE Superstar; he didn’t want to be anything else," she explained. "He didn’t grow up wanting to be an independent wrestler, he didn’t grow up wanting some other job. He grew up wanting to be a WWE Superstar. He wanted to be Macho Man [Randy Savage], he wanted to be Hulk [Hogan], he wanted to be Booker T."

Green's statement offers a glimpse into Cardona's enduring passion for the WWE and suggests that a return to the organisation might be on the horizon. Whether WWE reciprocates Green's desire remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Cardona's heart remains firmly within the squared circle of the wrestling juggernaut.
