Cardi B Files for Divorce from Offset: "They've Grown Apart"
Cardi B and Offset have called it quits again, with the rapper filing for divorce from her estranged husband on Wednesday.
Cardi's representative confirmed the news to Page Six, stating that she is seeking primary custody of their two children, Kulture, 5, and Wave, 2. This time, it seems, there's no turning back.
A source close to the situation revealed that while Offset has been the subject of cheating rumours in recent weeks, these were not the deciding factor in Cardi's decision. "They've grown apart. That's what drove her to this decision more than anything else," the insider claimed. "This is something she wants to do."
The couple has been plagued by rumours of infidelity since the start of their marriage in 2017. Just this week, Offset denied the latest cheating claims after being seen publicly with a woman he reportedly dated in the past.
Despite the ongoing speculation, Cardi, 31, and Offset, 32, have been spotted together on numerous occasions, including a date night at a New York Knicks game back in April. However, a source close to Cardi stated that she is prioritising her own happiness and moving forward.
"They both have been trying to figure out what their future looks like for a while now," the source revealed. "It's not something that happened overnight...They've both been on the same page. There wasn't [pushback]. They've grown apart and that feeling has gotten stronger over time. It's become unavoidable."
This isn't the first time the couple has faced divorce. In 2020, Cardi filed for divorce but later reconciled with Offset. Despite their attempts to work through their challenges, it seems their relationship has reached a breaking point.
Cardi has been candid about the ups and downs of their relationship, sharing cryptic messages on social media earlier this year hinting at their struggles. "You know when you just out grow relationships," she wrote, followed by "Iâm tired of protecting peoples feelingsâ¦I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST." Days later, she confirmed she had been "single for a minute".
While rumours of a potential third child have circulated, Cardi has not confirmed her pregnancy. Regardless, her focus remains on her children and moving forward with her life.
"She's focused on moving on," the source said. "She has no ill will towards him. She's wishing him the best. She's not going into this next season [of her life] with any beef or any drama. She wants everything to be very peaceful."
A rep for Offset has not yet responded to requests for comment.
