Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden were spotted enjoying a rare public outing with their two children, Raddix and Cardinal, on Saturday. The family of four took a leisurely stroll through their neighbourhood in Santa Barbara, California, a welcome sight for fans of the notoriously private actress.
The "Charlie's Angels" star, 51, sported a casual all-black ensemble, consisting of a loose-fitting T-shirt and matching trousers, as she pushed their newborn son in a stroller. Her husband, 45-year-old Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, kept things equally relaxed in a long-sleeved black sweatshirt and matching shorts. He accessorised with a green hat and carried multiple white shopping bags in one hand, while holding Raddix's hand with the other. The four-year-old daughter, who was seen wearing what appeared to be Christmas pyjamas, completed her outfit with pink cowgirl boots.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, have largely kept their personal lives, including their children, out of the public eye. However, their recent outing provides a glimpse into their family life, which has expanded with the arrival of their second child, Cardinal, in March this year.
"We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Maddenâ¤ï¸ð He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here!" the couple shared on Instagram, adding that they wouldn't be posting pictures of their little one for privacy reasons. "He's a really cute," they wrote.
The couple's first child, Raddix, was born in January 2020. The arrival of their daughter, who was welcomed via surrogate, was also met with a similar announcement, keeping Raddixâs image private.
The choice of Cardinal's name sparked some curiosity amongst their family, particularly given the name's bird-themed connection to niece Sparrow, Benji's twin brother Joel Madden's daughter with Nicole Richie. While Richie playfully suggested it might be a "twin thing," Joel revealed he was surprised by the name but equally happy for the couple.
