BBC Breakfast Fans Fume as Olympics Cut Show Short

BBC Breakfast viewers were left fuming after the popular morning show was abruptly cut short and moved to a smaller channel on Monday, just as the 2024 Paris Olympics coverage began.

The usual 6am to 9:30am slot has been adjusted this week to accommodate the Olympics, leaving early risers bewildered and disappointed. On Monday, the show started at its usual time but switched to BBC Two at 8am for an hour, much to the chagrin of loyal viewers.

"I'm going back to bed!" exclaimed one disgruntled fan on social media. Others echoed similar sentiments, lamenting the unexpected change and questioning why the Olympics couldn't wait until 9am, or be shown on a dedicated news channel.

"You've cut #bbcbreakfast short!" one viewer tweeted. "Can't the Olympics wait till 9? Or put it on News24?"

The schedule shake-up follows a similar incident on Saturday, when the breakfast show was also cut short to cover the Games. This further fuelled fans' frustrations, with some even threatening to boycott the show altogether.

"#bbcbreakfast I might as well do my big shop at 8:00am.. #OlympicGames," another disappointed viewer lamented.

It seems that BBC Breakfast isn't the only casualty of the Olympics. The beloved shows Bargain Hunt and Homes Under the Hammer have also been pulled off air, leading to a wave of disgruntled viewers across the nation.

While these shows have been temporarily relocated to BBC Two, the schedule changes have sparked a debate about the BBC's priorities and the impact on loyal viewers.

The One Show, another popular programme, has also been pulled from screens this month, taking a "summer break" to make way for the Olympics. It is set to return on August 12th.

The scheduling changes have caused a stir among viewers, with many expressing their disappointment and frustration. However, the BBC maintains that these adjustments are necessary to accommodate the significant coverage required for the Olympics.

Despite the temporary inconvenience, fans can expect the familiar faces of BBC Breakfast to return to their regular slot once the Games have concluded.
