A fresh face has emerged on York's coffee scene, with the launch of The Divine Project this weekend (17 August). This exciting venture brings together two well-established names in the city's coffee culture: North South, an independent bar and coffee shop on Bootham, and Divine Coffee Roasters, a local coffee roasting company.
The Divine Project, nestled at 22-24 Market Street, is a speciality coffee shop dedicated to showcasing the finest freshly roasted beans from Divine Coffee Roasters. It embodies a 'collaboration of independence' right in the heart of York's bustling city centre.
Richard Taylor, the owner, revealed to YorkMix how the partnership came about: "It was a chance meeting, and we realised we could work well together. We're managing both the coffee shops and North South, while Divine provides their exceptional roasting expertise."
Located close to several major chain coffee shops, The Divine Project confidently stands apart. As Richard explained, "Divine Coffee is outstanding, and we wanted to bring a distinct independent feel to the city centre."
The shop's minimalist design creates a relaxed atmosphere, offering a welcoming space to enjoy a wide selection of coffees and teas at reasonable prices. The menu also boasts an array of sweet and savoury treats, with The Little Blondie Bakehouse in Walmgate supplying their delightful bakes and Baltzersenâs of Harrogate providing Scandinavian pastries.
The Divine Project goes the extra mile for coffee enthusiasts, offering the opportunity to purchase Divine's coffee beans for home brewing. The shop also provides on-site grinding services, ensuring the perfect grind for any coffee machine.
With its focus on quality coffee, local partnerships, and a relaxed atmosphere, The Divine Project promises to be a welcome addition to York's thriving coffee scene. It offers a unique blend of independent spirit and exceptional coffee, providing a delightful escape for those seeking a truly distinct coffee experience in the city centre.
