Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull Team Up for Seamless Trailer Telematics
Bridgestone's Webfleet expands its OEM.connect programme to trailers, partnering with leading manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull.
Webfleet, Bridgestone's globally trusted fleet management solution, is expanding its OEM.connect partner programme to encompass trailers, with Schmitz Cargobull, a leading European manufacturer of semi-trailers, as the first participant.
This strategic partnership provides commercial fleet operators with a streamlined way to connect Schmitz Cargobull trailers to the Webfleet platform via factory-fitted telematics. This eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming aftermarket hardware installations, enabling operators to access valuable trailer data directly.
"Trailers are the backbone of long-haul goods transportation, but managing a trailer fleet can be a complex task," said Taco van der Leij, Vice President Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. "By making our Webfleet Trailer solution readily available via OEM data, we can help businesses leverage real-time data insights and actionable intelligence to optimise trailer performance."
The integration allows fleet operators to connect their trailers using their VIN number through the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® telematics portal. This seamless process provides access to a range of advanced Webfleet features, including:
Trip details and location monitoring: Track trailer movements and locations in real-time.
Maintenance and safety monitoring: Gain insights into trailer health and identify potential issues proactively.
Payload, tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS), and temperature data: Monitor key operational parameters for optimal performance and compliance.
"With the TrailerConnect® Data Management Center from Schmitz Cargobull, hauliers have complete control over their data and can share selected information with third parties efficiently," added Sören Danielsen, Manager Strategy & Business Development at Schmitz Cargobull. "By intelligently combining vehicle, tour, and order data, more than just position and temperature information can be selected, processed, and transmitted to third-party systems at the touch of a button. This fosters connectivity and transparency, benefiting all stakeholders in the supply chain."
The collaboration between Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull was formalised at the IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 event in Hanover, Germany. The integrated solution is currently available to European Webfleet customers, with plans to expand the programme to include trailers from other manufacturers in the near future.
This partnership marks a significant step forward in simplifying trailer telematics integration for commercial fleets, empowering them to optimise their operations and improve efficiency through valuable data-driven insights.
