U-Haul Opens New Storage Facility in Lebanon, Pennsylvania: Community Day Set for 13 September
U-Haul has announced the grand opening of its newest self-storage facility, U-Haul Storage of Lebanon, with a community day celebration on 13 September at 1437 Cumberland St., Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
The 2.67-acre site, acquired in 2022, boasts a newly constructed 60,880-square-foot building featuring 830 indoor self-storage units. These units offer climate control options and advanced security features for peace of mind. An existing 10,683-square-foot building has been repurposed as a U-Box warehouse for up to 190 mobile storage containers.
To mark the occasion, U-Haul is hosting a community day event filled with activities and giveaways. The festivities begin at 11:30 am with a free catered lunch from Heiseyâs Diner (while supplies last). Guests can enjoy live entertainment from 99.7 Wilbur Radio, take guided tours of the facility, and enter to win prizes such as a U-Haul hitch package, a bike rack package, and a £160 gift certificate for general merchandise.
Local officials and dignitaries are expected to attend, including Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello and representatives from the Lebanon County Commissioners. The Lebanon Fire Department will be present to provide safety tips and displays. The community day also provides an opportunity for local non-profit organisations to showcase their work and interact with attendees.
This expansion comes in response to the rising demand for storage solutions in Lebanon County. The existing U-Haul facility at 1440 Cumberland St. has been operating at full capacity for several years, underscoring the need for additional storage space. The new facility will be managed by the existing U-Haul Moving & Storage of Lebanon, located directly across the street.
The construction of the new storage facility reflects U-Haul's commitment to adaptive reuse, transforming a former industrial site dating back to the 1880s. This approach aligns with the company's sustainability initiatives, reducing emissions and repurposing existing structures rather than building entirely new facilities.
U-Haul Storage of Lebanon offers various amenities to meet diverse customer needs. Beyond the climate-controlled storage units, customers have access to drive-in loading bays for weather protection, loading carts, electronic entry, propane, trailer hitches, and U-Box portable moving and storage containers. The facility also features a U-Haul Re-Use Center, where customers can donate or acquire gently used furniture, promoting a circular economy and fostering community support.
The new facility is expected to create five to seven new jobs at the parent store, with U-Haul actively recruiting veterans and giving preference in the hiring process.
