Two New Wetherspoon Pubs Open Doors in London and Marlow
Wetherspoon is set to open two new pubs in September, bringing a taste of traditional British hospitality to Waterloo station and the charming town of Marlow.
The Lion & The Unicorn: This new pub, located on the upper ground floor of The Sidings at Waterloo station, will officially open its doors on Tuesday, 3 September. With 70 new jobs created, the pub takes its name from the iconic Lion and The Unicorn Pavilion, a feature of the 1951 Festival of Britain. The pavilion, alongside the Dome of Discovery and the Skylon tower, attracted over eight million visitors, showcasing Britain's innovative spirit.
The Lion & The Unicorn will be open daily from 7.30 am, serving breakfast until 11 pm. Guests can enjoy a variety of food options throughout the day, including pub classics and lighter bites. A generous offer of free refills on coffee, tea, and hot chocolate at £1.56 each is available, with takeaway cups for those on the go.
A selection of craft beers awaits, including the hazy Signature Roadie IPA, the robust Anspach & Hobday London Black Stout, the West Coast Mad Squirrel Big Sea IPA, and the refreshing Portobello Notting Helles Lager.
To celebrate its opening, the pub will host a special beer festival from Tuesday, 3 September to Sunday, 15 September, featuring a wide range of cask beers, keg beers, and craft cans from London and the surrounding area.
The Grand Assembly: Just a few weeks later, on Tuesday, 24 September, Wetherspoon will open its doors to The Grand Assembly in Marlow. Nestled at 2-3 Market Square, the pub's name pays homage to the âgrand assembliesâ that were once held in the former market house next door.
Built in 1807, the market house replaced an older wooden structure and featured a grand assembly room on the upper floor. With its balcony and three large windows overlooking High Street, the room hosted public meetings and entertainment events well into the 1960s.
The Grand Assembly will be open daily from 7 am, serving food until 11 pm. The menu features a variety of options, including burgers, pizzas, and a selection of small plates, catering to diverse tastes. Families are welcome in the pub until 9 pm, offering a comfortable environment for a relaxed dining experience.
The opening of these two new pubs marks a significant expansion for Wetherspoon, offering a blend of history, modern hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors alike.
