Teleflora's Heartwarming Holiday Campaign: Wishes & Charitable Giving

24 November 2024

This Christmas season, Teleflora, the world's leading floral delivery service, launches a poignant holiday campaign, "Power of Wishes," in collaboration with Make-A-Wish and The Wonderful Agency. The campaign, directed by award-winning filmmaker Sune Sorensen (known for his work on Hey Baby), blends whimsical storytelling with a significant charitable initiative.

The central narrative follows Matty, a young boy hospitalised over the festive period, who experiences a magical encounter with a snowman. While fantastical in nature, the story powerfully conveys themes of connection and hope, culminating in a moving depiction of a child's universal wish for family unity. The emotional resonance of the film is carefully crafted to evoke empathy and highlight the importance of family during challenging times. This heartfelt approach differentiates it from typical, more overtly commercial holiday advertising.

Beyond the emotive storytelling, Teleflora’s "Power of Wishes" campaign actively encourages audience participation in charitable giving. The company has pledged a substantial £190,000 donation to Make-A-Wish, a charity fulfilling life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. This commitment is activated through three key avenues: purchasing eligible festive bouquets from Teleflora.com; engaging with Teleflora's social media posts on Instagram and Facebook; and participating in a live snowman-building event at New York City's Rockefeller Center on 11 December, where Teleflora will donate £8 to Make-A-Wish for each snowman constructed.

Director Sune Sorensen shared a personal connection to the project, stating: "This is my second year working with Teleflora and Make-A-Wish, and it's very close to my heart, having been hospitalised as a child myself. I aimed for authenticity in the story, even with its magical elements. Ultimately, it's about a boy who simply wants to be with his dad."

The film was shot in Vancouver, utilising local talent including young actor Aaron Stansberry, whose audition deeply impacted the production team. Sorensen commented, "Aaron's audition brought the entire room to tears. His performance possessed an emotional depth that significantly enhanced the entire production."

Sorensen, recognised for his emotionally resonant work on previous campaigns such as McDonald's "The Gift" and Amazon's "Look Beyond," continues to demonstrate his mastery of emotionally evocative storytelling. The campaign represents a compelling blend of heartwarming narrative and impactful philanthropy, positioning Teleflora as more than just a floral delivery service, but as a brand invested in making a positive difference during the holiday season.
