Passenger Airliner Makes Emergency Landing at Manchester Airport

A Lufthansa flight en route to the US made an unscheduled landing at Manchester Airport today following a reported medical emergency on board.

Flight DLH44, operating the Frankfurt to Atlanta route, was diverted over the Scottish coast. The Airbus A330 touched down safely at Manchester Airport shortly after midday. A spokesperson for the airport confirmed that the aircraft was met by emergency services as per protocol, including firefighters.

The Manchester Evening News understands that the diversion was prompted by a passenger experiencing chest pains. While paramedics assessed the passenger at the scene, no intervention by firefighters was required, and the patient's current condition remains unknown.

A spokesperson for Manchester Airport stated, "The flight came in as an emergency in line with policy and it was attended by the fire service who responded, but were not required." The flight, which was delayed due to the incident, was scheduled to depart later on Saturday.

The total number of passengers onboard the aircraft has not been disclosed. The Manchester Evening News has contacted Lufthansa for further comment, but no additional details have been released.
