The warm spell currently gripping Norfolk looks set to continue into September, with sunshine and light winds forecast throughout the week.
Temperatures are expected to peak at a sizzling 27°C in parts of the county towards the end of next week, just ahead of the arrival of September. This potential heatwave comes after the region experienced its hottest day of the year so far earlier this month, with temperatures reaching 33°C.
"Temperatures overall will probably be close to average, with a chance of some short-lived very warm conditions in the south and east at times," explained a spokesperson for the Met Office.
The first week of September is expected to see a significant period of dry and settled weather across the UK, with only occasional showers. "Some rain is possible at times, but for many areas, conditions will probably be drier than average," the Met Office spokesperson added.
While September will likely start with a warm spell, temperatures are expected to gradually cool down in the northwest of the country, while remaining warm to average in the southeast.
This weekend is forecast to be unsettled with the chance of showers and maximum temperatures of 22°C. However, as the week progresses, the sunshine and warmth will gradually return, potentially culminating in the 27°C peak next week.
With the summer's last hurrah on the horizon, those looking to enjoy the balmy weather should make the most of this final burst of sunshine before the cooler autumn months set in.
