London's Dishoom Heads to NYC, St. John Returns

London's acclaimed Indian restaurant Dishoom is bringing its flavours to New York City with a pop-up at the popular Pastis restaurant. The pop-up, which has already generated over 20,000 likes on Instagram, will run from 19th to 23rd August and again from 26th to 30th August. Reservations open on 1st August via Resy.

Meanwhile, London's celebrated St. John restaurant is back in New York for another event, this time at As You Are in the Downtown Brooklyn Ace Hotel. Pre-orders are now live for their iconic chicken and ox tongue pies, available for pick-up for £36.

Neptune Diner Closes After 40 Years

Astoria's beloved Neptune Diner, a Greek eatery that had been a local institution for four decades, closed its doors on Sunday, 28th July. The diner, which sat beside the NW train entrance on Astoria Boulevard North, had been a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

The building was owned by the Katsihtis brothers, but the land was reportedly sold for $10 million in 2018. The brothers’ lease expired in 2019, and they were unable to reach a new agreement with the new owners. The site is now set to be replaced by new housing development.

Ha’s Đặc Biệt Finds a Permanent Home

, the popular Vietnamese American pop-up run by chefs Anthony Ha and Sadie Mae Burns, is finally setting up shop in New York City. The duo will be taking over the former Gem Wine space at 297 Broome Street on the Lower East Side. The announcement was made last week on their Instagram account.

Apollo Bagels Expanding to West Village

Joey Scalabrino’s Apollo Bagels started as a pop-up at his Williamsburg pizzeria, Leo. Earlier this spring, the bagel shop opened a standalone location in the East Village, quickly becoming a local favourite. Now, Scalabrino and his team are planning to open a third location in the West Village at 73 Greenwich Avenue, just off West 11th Street.
