Lehi, Utah, 14 August 2024 â DigiCert, a global leader in digital trust backed by Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. (including its affiliates, âClearlakeâ), Crosspoint Capital Partners L.P. (âCrosspointâ), and TA Associates Management L.P. (âTAâ), today announced the acquisition of Vercara from Golden Gate Capital and GIC. Vercara is a leading provider of cloud-based online security services, specialising in managed Authoritative Domain Name System (DNS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) security solutions that safeguard organisations' networks and applications. This acquisition will expand DigiCert's capabilities to protect businesses of all sizes from the ever-growing threat of cyberattacks.
The acquisition of Vercara complements DigiCert's existing portfolio of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate management solutions. Vercara's industry-renowned UltraDNS product is an enterprise-grade managed authoritative DNS service, delivering fast and accurate query responses to websites and other critical online assets. This ensures 100% website availability with built-in security for enhanced protection. Vercara also offers UltraDDoS Protect, UltraWAF, UltraAPI, and UltraEdge, providing layered protection for organisations' web applications and infrastructure. The integration of Vercara's solutions with DigiCert's existing portfolio will offer customers a unified DNS and certificate management experience, streamlining domain control validation and simplifying DNS configuration.
âThis strategic acquisition represents an important milestone in our growth vision for DigiCert,â said Prashant Mehrotra, Partner at Clearlake. âVercara further strengthens the technology DigiCert provides its customers to protect against an increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity threat environment, and we believe this additional product offering will accelerate DigiCertâs leadership position in digital trust.â
"The team at Vercara has created leading DNS and application security solutions that serve and protect the world's largest brands, including top e-commerce, financial, and media companies," said Colin Doherty, CEO of Vercara. âThe combination of Vercaraâs and DigiCert's talent and industry-leading product portfolios is expected to further bolster Vercaraâs dedication to securing the online experience and building digital trust. Together, we will help position customers for continued success in operating increasingly complex enterprises."
âThe ability to streamline certificate domain validation via UltraDNS and the ability to manage this with DigiCertâs Trust Lifecycle Manager will significantly reduce the time and complexity when provisioning certificates," said Todd Hinders, CEO of Edg.io. âThe future integration means fewer manual steps and a much smoother workflow, enhancing both our security posture and operational productivity.â
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to complete later this year.
