Colchester Welcomes a New Home Bargains Giant
Colchester residents are set to welcome a brand-new Home Bargains tomorrow morning, with the *Gazette
granted exclusive access to the store before its 8am opening. The colossal new branch, located at Lightship Way, boasts a sprawling 36,000 square foot space, offering a vast array of products to shoppers.
The retailer, with over 600 outlets across the UK, has invested a significant £1 million into the Colchester branch. In line with their commitment to community support, Home Bargains has announced a £2,000 donation to the local charity, Home Start Colchester.
While a smaller Home Bargains already exists in Turner Rise Retail Park, this new venture promises a unique shopping experience. The new store features a dedicated bakery, a café, and a garden centre, significantly expanding the range of products and services on offer. The opening has also created 90 new jobs for the local area.
Stepping inside the store, one is immediately struck by its sheer size, with numerous aisles offering a diverse range of goods. A dedicated aisle for back-to-university and school shoppers is sure to be a popular destination, while plentiful aisles stocked with seasonal items cater to those looking for early Halloween or Christmas decorations.
The café promises a selection of budget-friendly treats, including hot rolls for £1.99, tea for £1, cakes starting at £1.49, coffee for £1.49, and a hot dog for 99p.
The bakery, situated near the fruit and vegetable section, offers a tempting selection of burger brioches, baguettes, donuts, and more.
Venturing outside to the "Garden World at Home Bargains" garden centre, shoppers can browse a wide variety of plants, plant pots, garden ornaments, compost, and garden chairs.
