Azets Ireland, a leading professional services firm, has appointed David Lucas as Head of Corporate Finance, marking a significant step in its strategy to double the size of the division over the next three years. The company, which currently employs 16 staff in corporate finance, is actively recruiting and expects to add another 20 professionals to its team.
This expansion comes at a time when the Irish M&A market is flourishing, with private equity deals witnessing a 30% surge in the first quarter of the year. However, the small to mid-market segment, a key focus area for Azets, often faces a limited number of firms providing dedicated corporate finance services.
Lucas brings over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, with a strong track record in both banking and professional services. His expertise in corporate finance, spanning over 12 years, has seen him advise a diverse clientele including global private equity houses, large corporations, privately-owned businesses and management teams. This experience has earned him a reputation for delivering successful outcomes across a variety of sectors.
"I am excited to take on this role as Head of Corporate Finance during this period of expansion for Azets in Ireland," said Lucas. "Our team's dedication to providing tailored M&A, due diligence, valuations, and debt advisory services is more crucial than ever. The anticipated reduction in interest rates is likely to boost deal activity in the coming months and years, while Irish businesses continue to attract interest from both domestic and international investors."
Neil Hughes, CEO of Azets Ireland, expressed his enthusiasm about Lucas' appointment: "We are delighted to welcome David to his new role. His extensive experience and impressive track record make him the ideal leader to spearhead our ambitious plans for growth in corporate finance."
Hughes went on to highlight Azets' position as the leading financial advisor in the Irish market, based on deal volume in the first half of 2024. "We are committed to delivering exceptional service to entrepreneurial, owner-managed, and family-owned businesses," he said. "With David at the helm, and alongside our partners Greg Hogan and Jack Swinburne, we are poised to significantly expand our corporate finance team, enabling us to provide vital support and guidance to the mid-market sector across Ireland."
Azets Ireland currently employs a team of 260 people across offices in Dublin, Enniscorthy, County Wexford, and Waterford city.
