Aldi shoppers are queuing up to get their hands on the supermarket's latest bargain: a designer perfume dupe for just £5.99. The fragrance, dubbed "Cardinal Red," is a reported replica of a popular designer scent retailing at a whopping £155, leading to a frenzy amongst bargain hunters.
Social media buzzed with excitement after an Aldi Shoppers UK Facebook user posted about the new product, sharing a picture and proclaiming, "Lots of Loccitane dupes in Aldi today in special buys! And they have the Baccarat Rouge dupe."
Baccarat Rouge, a designer perfume known for its luxurious scent, is priced at a hefty £155 for a 35ml bottle. Aldi's dupe, however, offers a generous 50ml bottle for a mere £5.99, making it a truly tempting deal.
While the Cardinal Red perfume is currently out of stock online, shoppers have been raving about its fragrance, with many taking to social media to share their positive experiences. "The Perfume is so stunning I can't stop smelling myself," commented one user, while another added, "Omg I love that they do this! Baccarat Rouge I need it."
Aldi's Cardinal Red is part of their Lacura Ladies' range, which boasts three different fragrances catering to various preferences. The supermarket's website states: "You'll feel and smell great when wearing this Lacura Ladies' Eau de Parfum. Everyone will want to know what perfume you're wearing as you'll smell divine. Treat yourself or a loved one, with a choice of three scents there is something to suit all tastes."
This isn't the first time Aldi has captured attention with its budget-friendly beauty offerings. The supermarket giant has become known for its savvy dupes of popular designer products, often selling them at a fraction of the original price.
The success of Aldi's perfume dupe comes hot on the heels of a similar craze amongst B&M shoppers who went wild for a £4 dupe of a luxury £87 designer perfume. Bargain hunters spotted the incredible offer and claimed the Scandale Femme fragrance, modelled after Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Eau de Parfum, "actually smells like the real thing."
So, are these budget-friendly dupes worth the hype? The Sun sought the opinion of an independent perfume expert, Noemie Maury, a senior fragrance evaluator with over a decade of experience in the industry. Maury explained that high street chains can produce perfumes cheaply by sourcing ingredients directly from manufacturers, saving on costs by using oils from their own flower farms.
However, she noted that this practice can sometimes result in fragrances lacking the depth and complexity of more expensive brands which use a wider array of premium ingredients. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not a dupe is worth the purchase comes down to individual preference and budget.
With its latest fragrance offering, Aldi has once again proven its ability to offer quality products at affordable prices, delighting budget-conscious shoppers and creating a buzz amongst those seeking a luxurious scent without breaking the bank.
