Aggreko Unveils New Battery Storage Systems for UK Market
Aggreko, the UK-based energy solutions provider, has launched two new mid-sized battery storage systems, designed to cater to a wide range of on and off-grid applications. The 250 kW/575 kWh and 500 kW/250 kWh systems are poised to make a significant impact in the burgeoning UK battery storage market.
The new systems utilise lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, renowned for their safety and longevity. Their plug-and-play design allows for ease of installation and operation, making them ideal for a variety of commercial and industrial applications.
Both systems are housed in robust containers, pre-equipped with inverters, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), fire protection, and other essential auxiliary components. This integrated approach simplifies deployment and minimises installation time. Aggreko highlights the flexibility of the systems, which are easily transportable and can be deployed in diverse locations.
The introduction of these mid-sized systems expands Aggreko's existing battery energy storage portfolio, which already includes smaller 30 kVA and 60 kVA units. The new systems are specifically designed for larger projects and a wider range of applications across various sectors, including:
Renewable energy integration: The systems can be used to store energy generated from solar panels or wind turbines, ensuring a reliable and consistent energy supply.
Peak shaving and load shifting: By storing energy during periods of low demand and releasing it during peak hours, these systems can help businesses reduce their energy costs.
Emergency power backup: In the event of a power outage, the battery systems can provide reliable backup power to critical infrastructure.
Microgrid applications: The systems can be integrated into microgrids, providing a resilient and self-sufficient energy source for remote communities or industrial sites.
The 250 kW/575 kWh system offers a usable energy capacity of 518 kWh and can be fully charged within two hours. It operates at an AC input/output voltage of 480 V and is designed to withstand temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C. The system measures 2,991 mm x 2,438 mm x 2,896 mm and weighs 11 tonnes.
These new battery storage systems represent a significant step forward for Aggreko's commitment to providing innovative and sustainable energy solutions. With their versatility, reliability, and ease of deployment, the systems are well-positioned to meet the growing demand for energy storage in the UK.
