Coffee lovers hoping for a morning caffeine fix at the new Starbucks on the A1 near Gladsmuir have been left disappointed, as the store's opening has been pushed back to Saturday. The new outlet, part of the Macmerry Services at the Gladsmuir Junction, was initially slated to open its doors at 6am this morning.
While the coffee giant's second East Lothian store remains closed, the rest of the service station is now fully operational. Drivers can now refuel their vehicles, grab a bite to eat at the Co-op, Greggs, and Subway, and enjoy other services on offer.
"This is really disappointing," one driver who arrived hoping for a morning iced latte told the Courier. "I was really looking forward to it."
The delay is reportedly due to an issue with the tarmac of the drive-through lane. A spokesperson for Starbucks has been contacted for comment.
The Macmerry Services, located on the A1, promises to be a welcome addition to the area. In addition to the already open stores, a McDonald's is also scheduled to open at a later date. The service station is expected to become a popular stop for commuters and travellers alike, offering a wide range of services and amenities in a convenient location.
